Post 1: The meaning of sustainable development
Sustainable development is a framework for achieving human development goals while also preserving natural systems' ability to produce the natural resources and ecosystem services that the economy and society rely on. The targeted outcome is a state of society in which living circumstances and resources are utilized to suit human needs without jeopardizing the natural system's integrity and stability. Sustainable development is defined as development that meets current needs while not jeopardizing future generations' ability to meet their own.
The pillars of Sustainable development are:
o Economic sustainability: It denotes a production strategy that meets current demand levels without jeopardizing future needs. Such as organic farming, green and socio-economic enterprises.
o Social sustainability: equity, participation, cultural identity, and institutional stability are all included. Accessibility, Empowerment. Such as human rights, fair labor practices, living conditions, health, safety, wellness, diversity, equity.
o Environmental sustainability: it is about the natural environment and how it can support human life while being productive and resilient. Such as reducing carbon footprints, packaging waste, water usage, and overall effect on the environment.
